Can a Self-published Author get an Agent?

Yes, self-published authors can get agents! Of course, if a self-published author is getting an agent, they are doing so to make the transition to traditional publishing. And not only will an agent represent a self-published author, but they may also be able to sell an already self-published book to publishers.

But in order for a self-published book to be sold to publishers, agents will need to see proof of sales. For instance, if you think your book is the best thing to have ever been written but only sells seven copies, an agent isn’t exactly going to be very enthusiastic about its potential. But if the book has sold 100,000 copies, that’s a completely different story.
